Photography has the power to focus our attention on places in our community or problems in society that otherwise might go unnoticed. During this Interim, thirteen students worked with local photographers John Schaefer and Stephen Trimble discussing the power of photography and the responsibility of photographers to communicate about social action as well as to be alert artists. For their photography, students focused on the service work they did throughout the week assisting the elderly with yard work through Neighbors Helping Neighbors, feeding people who live at the Road Home with St. Vincent de Paul's, and gardening at Wasatch Community Gardens where people can learn to grow their own food and gain greater self-sufficiency. The portfolio of photography, Changing Perspectives, reflects the new perspectives students gained through this interim on their community, their lives, the needs that exist in Salt Lake City, and their power to make a difference.
